Mom + Pop 2021 Year in Review

Thank you for listening, sharing, and supporting our artists this year. 2021 has proved to be yet another year of unknowns. Another year during which tour dates have shifted or been canceled, where we worried about the health and safety of ourselves and our loved ones. Despite its instability, 2021 marks the year we were finally able to meet each other back on those dancefloors, making these experiences even more profound than they once were. In 2021, we had welcomed 2 new additions to the Mom+Pop family, released 9 full-length albums, 6 EPs, countless singles, multiple remixes, with many groundbreaking collaborations along the way.

We are beyond proud to work with so many incredible, awe-inspiring individuals, whose art touches millions of people across the globe. How we relate to their art influences how we relate to one another, which is something that cannot be measured in streams, sales, or tickets.

Read on below for our year in review.

2021 New Signings + Releases

This year, we welcomed the return of live music with many artists hitting the road for the first time since the pandemic began. Porter Robinson came back with a force featuring the return of his very own Second Sky festival. We also had no shortage of music to enjoy with four Mom + Pop singles achieving global viral status including: Ashe + FINNEAS' "Till Forever Falls Apart," Frances Forever's "Space Girl," Beach Bunny's "Cloud 9" and SEB's "seaside_demo." We had huge successes at radio, like Courtney Barnett's first Top 5 AAA record with "Write a List of Things To Look Forward To" and Porter Robinson's first ever charting song at ALT with "Look at the Sky." Meanwhile radio stars like Alice Merton and Caamp were among the Top 50 most played at AAA and rising stars like Ashe, Beach Bunny and SEB all had Top 30 moments. Ashe was chosen as a 2021 ‘Artist on the Rise ‘by YouTube, and many of our albums received 'Best of 2021' features from streaming platforms and media alike— with FADER ranking Porter Robinson's album Nurture as their #1 album of the year. The highlights go on and on, but we'll keep it short for now...

2021 panned out to be our most prolific release calendar to date— a whopping 9 albums, 6 EPs, plus singles from Beach Bunny, SEB, Alice Merton, Frances Forever, Sunflower Bean, Orion Sun, and Tycho. Stay tuned for new music from some of those names (and more!) in the coming year.

We were thrilled to welcome Del Water Gap and SEB to the Mom+Pop family. In partnership with Dana Meyerson’s new imprint label Slashie, we’ve also had the pleasure of working closely with Elissa Mielke and Evil. It has truly been an honor to join these artists’ teams and foster their growth within the ever-changing music industry landscape (and beyond!). From Del Water Gap’s debut self-titled album, to SEB’s IT’S OKAY, WE’RE DREAMING EP, we are so honored and proud to be on this journey with them.
