Tycho is back with his new album Simulcast, a companion album to GRAMMY-nominated album Weather which was released last July. With Simulcast, Tycho reimagined Weather, which featured lyrics and vocals by Saint Sinner, as an instrumental album. Diving deeper into the creative process, Tycho’s Scott Hanson states: “A simulcast is the transmission of a program across different mediums and in different languages. With these two albums I wanted to present the same ideas in two languages, one more literal and the other more open to interpretation. Simulcast expands on the concepts laid out in Weather, but shifts into the abstract with instrumental soundscapes in place of lyrics, opening up a visual space and translating the message into a new language.”

Last week, at the invitation of MTV Australia, Courtney Barnett performed a unique show in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia. Performing 8 songs to an intimate crowd in the outdoor courtyard of Howler Bar, this “Unplugged” appearance showcases Barnett like you’ve never heard her before. Inviting some of her favorite musicians to to play with her, the show welcomed Paul Kelly, Marlon Williams, and Evelyn Ida Morris to the stage as well. MTV Unplugged Live in Melbourne is available to be streamed now and will be released physically on February 21, pre-order it HERE.

Caamp has released a new EP, featuring live versions of five tracks from their recent debut album By and By. The Live from Newport Music Hall EP was recorded during an intimate tour in their home state of Ohio, the three days leading into New Year’s Eve of last year. The five songs they selected for the EP capture the infectious energy of their live show. Only a limited number of fans were in attendance at those small shows, so we are so excited they are now sharing that experience with the world.
