Tycho Announces Instrumental Companion Album 'Simulcast' and Releases New Single "Outer Sunset"

Today, Tycho announced his upcoming album Simulcast out on February 28th, along with a brand new single “Outer Sunset.” The album serves as an instrumental companion to his GRAMMY-nominated album Weather which was released last year. The new single pairs with Weather’s "Skate” and gives a good indication of what’s to come in terms of sonic themes and influences. Its release is accompanied by dreamy new visuals inspired by the song’s eponymous surf town in San Francisco (watch below).

Diving into both the etymology of the album and the writing process itself, Tycho stated: “a simulcast is the transmission of a program across different mediums and in different languages, with these two albums I wanted to present the same ideas in two languages, one more literal and the other more open to interpretation. Simulcast expands on the concepts laid out in Weather, but shifts into the abstract with instrumental soundscapes in place of lyrics, opening up a visual space and translating the message into a new language.” Stream/Download and watch the Official Audio Video below.

Tycho also announced his upcoming Simulcast Tour which kicks off on May 13th at San Diego’s SOMA and then continues through the United States until mid-June. Special guests include Poolside (May 16–19) and Com Truise (May 20–June 11). Meanwhile, Tycho is currently in the middle of his Weather World Tour with dates resuming February 3rd at Los Angeles’ The Wiltern before he crosses the Atlantic for a European run.
