Sleater-Kinney return with their third single and the title track from their upcoming album, “The Center Won’t Hold.” The album title track is also its opener, setting an intense and explosive tone for the record. The song’s initial slow and powerful opening lines, “I need something pretty to help me ease my pain, I need something ugly to put me in my place,” are followed by chant-like vocals repeating “the center won’t hold", all leading into a frenetic, thunderous climax.
