Del Water Gap releases “Losing You,” the third single that comes off his forthcoming album I Miss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet (September 29). “Losing You” is a glittery, magnetic avant-pop track about the fear and vulnerability that comes with opening up in a new relationship. The track follows “Coping On Unemployment” and “All We Ever Do Is Talk,” which was named a Song You Need To Know by Rolling Stone, with Paste referring to it as “replete with dreamy, electric guitars and full-bodied harmonics.”
Del Water Gap says, “Losing You” is the first song I wrote for my album. This song is about the feeling of hearing words escape your mouth that you regret the moment they hit the air. It’s about being scared and digging your heels. I wrote this song literally minutes after walking away from a fight with a person I was seeing at the time. I threw down the phone and walked into Sammy’s studio for the first time and had started to cool off and it hit me that maybe… I was wrong. I’ve had trouble opening up in the past, and I find that openness can come with immense fear and insecurity. This song is also about wanting to be liked, not just loved, by the person you call your own. It’s about the way that conflict makes us regress, the ugliness that we inherit from our parents, and that the ultimate act of love can be admitting that you’re wrong.”
Soon, Del Water Gap will embark on a headline tour that features some of his biggest shows to date including a SOLD OUT night at NYC’s Brooklyn Steel, LA’s The Fonda and Austin City Limits in Texas. Recently, he performed at Newport Folk Festival and Australia’s Splendour In The Grass for the first time.
